United Astrology Conference - May 24-29, 2012, New Orleans
The United
Astrology Conference (UAC) is the place to be in
2012. It is the Olympics of astrology and our own academy
awards, all rolled into one, as Astrologer Glenn Perry put it.
Being at UAC reminds one of attending a huge university campus
with approximately fifty astrology classes taught each day,
offered by 160 speakers from about 20 countries!
The May 24-29 Conference is the 8th UAC and the 2nd taking
place in the Big Easy, at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel. It is
co-sponsored by the main astrological associations of America:
Association for Astrological Networking (AFAN), International
Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), National Council for
Geocosmic Research (NCGR), American College of Vedic Astrology (ACVA)
and Council of Vedic Astrology (CVA). They already organized the
last conference in Denver 2008, which attracted 1600 attendees.
When the best minds in the field of astrology come together
new insights will be shared - on the important year of 2012
which brings some of the most powerful celestial patterns we can
experience in a lifetime. Politically, 2012 is again - like 2008
- a US Presidential Election year. Last not least, the largest
gathering of professional astrologers is the perfect opportunity
to renew old friendships and/or make new ones.
The main Conference is framed by Pre- and Post-Conference
Workshops. Name astrologers such as Nick Campion,
Bernadette Brady, Melanie Reinhart, Ray Merriman or Richard
Tarnas will be speaking on special topics.
The UAC is also famous for its social events: the ceremonial
official opening on Thursday, the music event on Friday - with
Cajun food, hot band and bowling at a local club in New Orleans.
On Saturday the Master of entertainment, Michael Lutin, makes
fun of "OMG, The Mayans Were Right", time for celebration is
finally on Monday with a Banquet and the Regulus Awards.

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse A faint eclipse of the
Moon will take place. The Moon
will pass through the hazy outer
portion of Earths shadow, known
as the penumbra, so the eclipse
is barely noticeable. The lunar
disk will look slightly darker
than normal, but not by much, so
most skywatchers wont see any
difference.

Things appear better than they actually are.
On the brighter side, business will be good and money can be generated or
obtained easily. It is the time to ask your bank for a loan. Big spending and
lavish plans are the rule of the day. The mighty Dragon sneers at the prudent
and penny-pinching. He gambles for all or nothing. He will stimulate us to think
and act big, even overstepping the bounds of caution.

cycle and it follows the Dragon year, which is the strongest positive one. Many
disasters which had their beginning in the year of the Dragon tend to culminate
in the year of the Snake. These two signs are very closely related and the
calamities of the Snake years often resulted from excesses committed during the
Dragon's reign.
This will be a lively time for romance, courtship and scandals of all sorts.
A good year to pursue the arts. Fashion will become more elegant and fluid;
music and the theater will blossom; and people will strive for a more
sophisticated life. Notable contributions will also be made by science and
technology.
The venerable wisdom of the Snake will be evident in many facets of our life,
particularly in those requiring decisions. Although everything may look
refreshingly quiet on the surface, the year of the Snake is always
unpredictable. The Snake's cool and collected front hides the deep and
mysterious ways of his nature. It should be noted that once the Snake uncoils to
strike, he moves like lightning and nothing can stop him. Similarly, changes
that occur during the Snake's year can be as sudden and devastating.
Tread lightly and be more cautious this year. Gambling and speculation is
strictly taboo. The consequences will be overwhelming. The Snake is not
merciful.
Whatever else happens, the Snake will give us faith in our convictions and force
us to act and to act forcefully during his reign. This is not a year for

Month. The name of this leap month is the same as previous lunar month.
The reason to assign leap months is that we want the moon cycle to harmonize
with the sun cycle. Because one year has about 365.2425 days and one month has
about 29.53 days, one year has about 12.3685 months. 12.3685 is about 12 and
7/19. If we put seven extra months in 19 years, sun and moon should be back to
the same sky position. "Seven Leap Months in 19 years" is easy for
people to remember. However, 12.3685 is almost equal to 12 and 144/391. That
means "144 Leap months in 391 years" is a more accurate way to assign
Leap months. So far, no one has lived long enough to observe the entire cycle.
